My ideal bag

I realized as I was sewing my pal's bag that I am rather picky on the type of bags I have. I don't use handbags or bags that go over my shoulder, unless it is a bagpack. I like messenger bags; however I have a tendency to overpack my bags with all my necessities and have a bad backache afterwards if I use on of these types of bags. You see it's my mode of transporation in the muggle world. I travel via public transit and if you know me in irl you will know that I also use other things that many people do not have the need for. I travel all the time with my special friend on public transit and since I need to make sure I don't lose her I have to have a hold on her at all times, thus leaving me with only one hand. So my best choice of a bag is my handy huge backpack that most people might use for backpacking.

Now to keep everything organized in this huge backpack, I use smaller bags that fit into the large one. I love sock project bags because they are so fantastic for carrying my knitting everywhere with me. I also have little bags to carry other things like my ipod or nano depending if I want to carry my huge old ipod or the cute little nano (I have the non-video one). I have loads of sock project bags, but hey who doesn't need more! I would like to have some more larger project bags like this one I have. I have this fantastic dragon project bag made by Mama E and this 10 x 16 inch bag is great for small or large projects. Right now mine is holding cardi that I've been knitting for a while now. I really should finish it! If you haven't noticed by now, I LOVE dragons! The one thing I find with this bag is that the ribbon gets caught in everything, but hey it's better than velcro (trust me knitting WIP and velcro are not a good match.) Alternative closures that work are snaps, zippers, or cord or ribbon with closure pull toggle (not quite sure what it's called this description will do for now!) Well back to class!

Fiery gifts

I'm still a little sick, but I've been attending my classes here at Hogwarts. How could I miss DADA classes, Professor Humperdink is such a great teacher and really dreamy to look at. I'm practising for Quidditch tomorrow and I'm ready to help Ravenclaw show their wisdom and knowledge that makes us shine! Go Go Ravenclaw!

Today I was sitting in the Ravenclaw Common Room in my favourite chair in front of the fireplace, when all the sudden the fire started sparking and sputtering. So I put down the sock I was knitting to see what was causing it and out spat a card from my Hogwarts Secret Pal, telling me that my sock kit is being created right now and that she/he will see me around Hogwarts and it was signed just Your Secret Pal! Now I wonder who it could be? I like mysteries! I fancy myself working at the Minstery of Magic in the Department of Mysteries after I graduate from Hogwarts. Thank you secret pal it made my day! I've been sad since my previous sock kit pal, Olive had to leave Hogwarts early.

Yesterday being Muggle Valentine's Day look what my sweetie got me, he knows I love blue, dragons, and adore cinnamon hearts! It's Here, There Be Dragons by James A. Owen (a book for my extra credit muggle book studies), the book mark in it was a gift from my mom at the beginning of the term for getting sorted into Ravenclaw, pretty bag of cinnamon hearts and a beautiful sterling silver wisdom dragon pendant & necklace and the dragon is clutching a hematite ball.

Hematite is known for it's magical properties for grounding and centering. Useful in healing, especially when worn in the form of a necklace. It seems to draw illness out of the body. Its silvery, mirror-like surface is good for divination, especially scrying. It is also said to have the ablity to work as a shield from negative energy; however due to it's reflective qualities that makes it a good shield it can also reflect negative energy that comes from the user of the stone.

Charms!!

I am almost done my partner's package, yay! It's late, but I had troubles sleeping so I decided to work on the pretty green and silver stitchmarkers that I have planned for my pal. I even got to practice "reparo" due to a few pieces decided to snap when I was bending the wire! It was a little tricky; however I managed to make some beautiful markers with little charms and a green Swarovski crystal. I hope my pal likes her new dangly pretties as much as I do

You'd think she'd use her own "real" wand. My little clone, Gaby has been playing with my 5.00mm Brittany Birch crochet hook!! I asked her why she had it hidden away in her dresser and she said because it was pretty and looked like a really nice wand. Well I agree with her they are pretty and great crochet hooks, but I was a little upset with her because I've been looking for that hook everywhere! This is the hook that I'm crocheting my blanket squares with and I only have two made because it was MIA. I'd be a bit happier if she'd actually crochet with it instead of practicing her swish and flicks on them. This is the only one I have and it's precious. I need to find a shop that I can purchase some more around here one of these days!

SQQUUUEEE!!!

Sorry I didn't get a chance group at The Three Broomsticks and I hope that someone remembered to bring back some sweets for me from Honeyduke's (the dark chocolate with the hazelnuts or almonds [minus any lactose as well -- I'm allergic]). My little clone, Gaby and I are starting to feel better thanks to the nursing of Hagrid and his huge cups of tea. Darn muggle colds they really suck. Hagrid did find some great things to keep us entertained including an old clip of The Wierd Sisters singing at Hogwarts during the last tri-wizard tournment. I posted it here via magic utube link, enjoy!

Under the weather

I'm not going to be around probably till Madam Pomfrey is back. I caught this mean chest cold from nursing my little clone Gabrielle Starflame (she's in Gryffindor though she wanted to be in Ravenclaw and since she can't knit she's not in the swap), who is still ill and I'm helping Hagrid since I'm not as sick. He's sweet and makes a great cuppa; however he's not good at giving her muggle medicine via teaspoon -- it's the big hands and the fact he doesn't want to get caught using magic. Poor Hagrid. He's been letting Fluffy cuddle with her to make her feel a bit better.

I've been working on a whole bunch of projects and since I'm out of classes for now I have loads of time to work on my knitting and crocheting as well as some extra reading. I really wanted to make the Ravenclaw knitting circle today, but since I'm contagious I have to stay away. Have fun and have some pumpkin pasties for me!

A Sad Day

I'm really sad my pal Olive Bloomslang left Hogwarts today. I hope I had nothing to do with her unexpected leaving. I tried to send an owl to her to wish her luck and tell her that even though I was just starting to get to know her that I will miss her -- but my owl came back saying that there is no such address. She was willing to put up with all the confusion in regards to my name change and letting me rant a little about the frusteration in regards to the mixup. Our headmistress has done a great job dealing with all of our students even if about three of us all had the same name and then had to submit a name change. I hope you are well Olive and I would like to keep in touch (you have my IRL blog addy drop by if you can)

PS Congrats to Gryffindor's Cassandra for finding the snitch! Also Ravenclaws great hussle out there I'm proud -- sorry I couldn't be more help than I was.

Ravenclaw pride!!

I told some of the girls at the Ravenclaw knitting meeting about my WIP and I thought I'd show the first finished square here. I'm crocheting squares for a blanket with my leftovers and these are from the left-overs for my Ravenclaw scarf. I finished one more square in Ravenclaw colours and I might have enough left for one more square in lovely blue and silver-grey. Even though this is suppose to be a stash blanket I'm wanting to buy some more blue and some bronze to make it a Ravenclaw blanket in book and movie colours. Maybe another time when I'm not on a yarn diet. Go destashing and go go ravenclaw!!!
